Day 169 – 14.9 miles to stealth camp at 2032.5 (156.6 miles to go)

Come along Ponds.

The store in Stratton opened at 8am and I was their first customer. The lady at the deli counter made me up 3 sandwiches to be my lunches for the next leg and then Marching Band drove me back to East Flagstaff Road so I was back on trail around 9am.

The trail soon reached Flagstaff Lake and followed it’s shore for nearly a mile.

It was to be another sunny day with no discernible wind. Any clouds there were hung in the sky like relaxed marshmallows. At noon I stopped on the rocky shore of West Carry Pond and had lunch.

After leaving West Carry heading for East Carry this sign explained a bit about the area.

Upon reaching East Carry Pond 4 miles later I had to stop to pick up and filter water. A handful of dragonflies of different sizes whizzed about and a small one came and sat right next to me for several minutes. It saves me showing another pretty Maine pond photo.

On the final stretch of the day, during a muddy section, a small dark brown frog kept out of the mud onto a rock, let me photograph him and then lept back in again. His colour was a precise match to the mud (not pictured).
